1 AGUA CALIENTE TURF NOTES $ Golden Ivy, a four-year-old filly by Bis-touri, was shipped down from Tanforan Friday morning to join the Caliente division of Mrs. James F. Waters stable, which is being trained by Joe Luddy. Eighty-six horses, the largest number this season, were timed in workouts Friday morning by dockers Al Morgan and Charlie Hagen. Several contenders for Saturday and Sunday features were on the track. Jeffs Pride, king of the bushers, which checked in Thursday from Arizona, breezed three-eighths in :38, flat; Shortbread went the same distance in :37, breezing, while Jack Be Nimble was clocked in :39, also breezing. Breezing a half mile were Severe in :49, His Girl :54, and Distribute :49, flat. Earl Simpson, Arizona horseman, has decided to condition his own stock, and has been granted a license. Simpson supplants C. V. Bussey, who formerly directed the training of the Simpson stable. Included in the arrivals over the week-end was the stable of the Grigger Bros., who unloaded four head, of which Jeffs Pride known as the "King of the Bushes of the Bull Ring" is the star of the string. Others in the Grigger consignment were Dicks Choice, Scat Junior and Odd Number.
