MARKS TURNS STUD CONTROL OVER TO TOM CROMWELL LEXINGTON, Ky., Dec. 9. Leo J. Marks, master of Le Mar Stock Farm, is recovering from an illness due to bronchitis, which has confined him to bed in his home at Columbus, Ohio for twelve days. He had intended to come to Lexington for a visit to the farm, . but today phoned Thomas B. Cromwell, who for several years has looked after bookings for his stallions and mating of his mares, that his physician has advised him to get into the sunshine as soon as possible. Accordingly, he is leaving for California as soon as he is strong enough to travel. He has eighteen horses at Santa Anita Park in -charge of trainer A. G. Woodman, who has informed him that he has among them several sons and daughters of Misstep and Canaan, which will be among the good winners in 1939. Cromwell today announced that Marks authorized him to fix the fees for Misstep at 00 for live colt, 00 for live filly and for Canaan 00 for live colt and 0 for live filly, for mares approved by Cromwell. By comparison with fees announced for other stallions in Kentucky, these are very low.
