CREATOR OF PHILO VANCE DIES NEW YORK, N. Y., April 12. Willard Huntington Wright, 51, famous writer, who gained renown as "S. S. Van Dine," creator of Philo Vance, one of fictions best known detectives, died here last night. He was a native of Charlottesville, Va. From 1907 to 1913 he was literary editor of the Los An-igeles Times.
