1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES S Baylor O. Hickman, Louisville sportsman, has placed the eight-year-old gelding Dusty Dawn back in training after a long lay-off. He was brought up from the Hickman farm near here and added to the string the local owner has at Douglas Park. Clyde Van Dusen shipped a division of his stable to Churchill Downs early this week and the remainder will follow from Lexington after the Keeneland meeting. The horses of the Belmont stable arrived from Florida and were put away at Douglas Park by trainer Eddie Legere. Wise Fox and Diavolo Cliff were added to the stable A. G. Tarn has stabled at the Downs. The remainder of the stable will come from Keeneland later. L. V. Bellew, Sr., veteran Kentucky horseman, motored down from his home in Covington to visit his son, L. V. Bellew, Jr., who has a large stable in training at Douglas Park. Donald McEachern is training three horses for Churchill Downs racing Besides Crimson, which races for his own account, he has Stepladder and Shot Put for Mrs. M. Evans. Judd Ault, who handles the engagement books of jockey Earl Steffen and apprentice Nunzio Pariso, arrived from Florida, but will proceed to Lexington, where the two boys are to accept mounts. Steffen and Pariso are under engagement to the Valdina Farms of Emerson F. Woodward. Robert McGarvey, who trains the horses of E. E. Fogelson and W. F. Morgan, wealthy Texas sportsmen, transferred Ex Vola, The j Fighter, Downy Pillow and Rapid Way to Keeneland. Five two-year-olds belonging to the Le Mar Stock Farm arrived from Lexington and were received at Douglas Park by trainer A. G. Woodman. Arabs Arrow, winner of several stakes last year; Portmora and Tyr, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Baylor O. Hickman, of Louisville, were transferred to Keeneland for engagements there. Gilbert Hardy, trainer of the horses, accompanied them to Lexington. C. Bruce Head and Wm. H. Shelley, Churchill Downs officials and members of the license committee of the state racing commission, returned from a meeting of that body at Lexington. j
