w 1 FAIRMOUNT PARK NOTES t Bob McCue, one of the assistant starters under Johnny Morrissey, arrived from New Orleans. H. W. Fry made applications for four horses, including Stella Mc and Witful, both winners at the New Orleans meeting. Jockey Ray Conner arrived and announced that four horses owned by John Oliver were on the way. He races Viernes Santo, Name-oki, Kuvera and Exponent. Viernes Santo won at 40 to 1 recently at Hot Springs. Oxford Lad, Dusky Maid and Tureen will carry the colors of Mrs. C. D. Boyd during the twenty-seven day campaign. Glen Gorbet will campaign nine head, including Reelaway, Bahadur, Gale Way, Leana G. and Boiling Point. Sam Gorbet will also race nine thoroughbreds, the best-known being Dixie Dora, Flashing Thru, Royal Leon and Splurge. The popular judge Cliff Abbo wired that he was leaving New Orleans Saturday and would be here Monday. A. Bordeau will direct the training of Mrs. J. Hubbards Chipeta. The horse was a two-time winner at New Orleans. Valets Jack Pierce and Jack Sullivan arrived from New Orleans and were seen in the secretarys office. Landscaping effects are being worked out to make the track the most attractive in its history. Seventy-six kinds of flowers have been planted by gardener Bob Bertolero. Several horses have already tried the new track and have found it in admirable condition. Track superintendent John LeBlanc, who is at Fairmount Park the year-around, has the course looking better than at any time before.
