JUDGE THOMAS RESIGNS WASHINGTON, D. C, April 12. President Roosevelt today accepted "effective immediately," the resignation of Federal Judge Edwin S. Thomas, who has been under investigation by the Department of Justice. Judge Thomas submitted his resignation to the President in a letter dated April 6, and it was accepted in a reply dated today. The jurist was taken to a hospital just before his scheduled appearance before a grand jury investigating his affairs. It was announced that he was suffering from a severe nervous disorder.
