ANXIOUS TO START KAYAK IL Owner Howard Interviews Kyne on Bay Meadows Special Date. Kyne Seeking Suitable Opponents for Winner of the Santa Anita Handicap Jockey Pollard Married. SAN BRUNO, Calif., April 12. Charles S. Howard, who was a visitor at Tanforan Tuesday afternoon, stated that Kayak II., winner of the Santa Anita Handicap, would be seen in action at Bay Meadows this spring if the proposed Bay Meadows Special is held early enough. As Howard is anxious to ship his South American star to the East lo take part in several stakes, including the Metro- j politan Handicap, he does not wish to wait until the last week at Bay Meadows tosend Kayak II. into action. Kayak II. will not be sent to Pimlico for the Dixie Handicap. William P. Kyne, general manager of Bay Meadows, when interviewed, stated that if he could secure one or two suitable opponents for Kayak II., he would stage the Bay Meadows Special during the second or third week of the meeting in order to give turf patrons of the Bay district a chance to see the colt in action. Kyne was figuring on Specify, Main Man and Roman Hero as the most likely opponents for the Howard horse. Main Man and Specify are at present in southern California, while Roman Hero is at Tanforan, in training for the Tanforan Three-Year-Olds Championship, which will be decided Saturday. If the Bay Meadows Special is held, the purse will be between 0,000 and 5,000. Owner Howard and general manager Kyne had an engagement for later in the afternoon. Owner Howard, who returned from Willits where he journeyed to attend the wedding of jockey "Red" Pollard Monday, stated that Pollards leg, while still in a brace, is coming along nicely, and that "Red" is galloping Sea-biscuit daily. Howard has hopes that his star jockey will be ready to ride Seabiscuit next time the champion goes postward.
