WAR GRAND was sent up into close quarters on the inside going to the far turn, but then tired in the last eighth after getting clear. FOREIGN LEGION, slow to start and outrun to the far turn, was placed under pressure in the stretch, assumed command in the final sixteenth, but bore out in the final strides. SPARTAN LADY, rated along under restraint, raced CHILLY EBBIE into defeat and held nn well to the end. NANCY MAE, slow to begin and outrun, finished well. TOUTMEPAL showed good form. GLISTEN had no mishaps. CHILLY EBBIE tired after three-quarters. OUR SHIP swerved to the outside after the start and tired after being rushed up fast. Overweight Chilly Ebbie, 3 pounds. GERALD lacked early speed, then closed with a rush. DRUDGERY was sent into command at the start, showed speed and had no mishaps. NOSY, on the extreme outside, lost much ground on the stretch turn, was taken up and then guided to the inside along the rail. HALCYON BOY forced a fast early pace, then tired. RANCHOS GIRL was close up from the start and. under pressure in the stretch, tired in the closing sixteenth. PIMLICO QUEEN was sent into command after the start, but quit badly near the end. LUCRE LUDE was restrained in the early stages and, responding well when roused on the stretch turn,- tired at the finish. MINNA was hard urged in the first part, saved ground on the stretch turn, then quit. QUOTUM had no mishaps. HAPPY ROAD outran the others to the first turn, but was shuffled back going to the far turn, then closed fastest of all thrnueh the final eighth. JAMES BOY saved much ground entering the stretch and finished stoutly. ISLEWORTH was sent up fast on the outside near the far turn, lost ground entering the stretch, but was bearing out near the finish. ITALIAN HARRY showed good form. THE FLOWER, in close quarters on the inside on the back stretch, continued well next to the rail and, finding an opening when MAGNANIMOUS bore out in the stretch, took the lead in the closing sixteenth, and held the latter safe in a drive. MAGNANIMOUS showed early speed, bore out in the stretch and interfered with CRYSTAL LAKE, then came again when straightened out and was pressing the winner at the end. CLAUDE K. made up ground under urging in the stretch. TOP TAX went evenly. CRYSTAL LAKE tired after meeting with interference in the stretch.
