1 BOWIE TURF NOTES s Jockey Wayne Wright, accompanied by Worth Johnson, stopped en route to New York from Miami. Wright is on the lookout for a mount in the Paumonok, the opening day feature at Jamaica. Frank J. Bruen was among Wednesdays visitors. He recently arrived from Miami. Dian, owned by Mrs. G. W. Church, was ordered scratched from Wednesdays sixth race due to lameness. Jack Goldsborough wired Havre de Grace officials that he would arrive Monday with Saratoga Stables Volitant, a candidate for the Chesapeake Stakes. Jack Howard arrived at Havre de Grace with the B. F. Whitaker horses from Florida. A. J. Joyner will ship a division of the good Widener stable to Havre de Grace, headed by the Chesapeake candidate Eight Thirty. F. J. Vollmer arrived at Havre de Grace with his horses from Miami. President-general manager A! J. Boyle of the Charles Town Jockey Club wired here Wednesday that the purse distribution for the meeting beginning May 15 at Charles Town, W. Va., would be 05,000, as against 70,300 last year. Boyle also announced that the first book will be issued soon by secretary Freddie Burton. Eight races daily will be run. Alfred Vanderbilt sends word from the Pacific Coast that Kayak II. is not definitely out of the Dixie Handicap, owner Charles S. Howard merely being "undecided" at the present time. John Kearns, a blacksmith for many years at Maryland tracks, died in Mercy Hospital, Baltimore, last night. He was 45 years old. Interment will be at Laurel, following a service at the Catholic church in that city. P. Da Lee "Watts shipped ten horses to Havre de Grace for racing at that point. E. J. Regan shipped a dozen horses to Jamaica for Metropolitan racing. The main division of the Millsdale and A. Pelleteri stables was shipped to Belmont Park. A division was vanned to Havre de Grace. A shipment to Narragansett Park was headed by ten horses owned and trained by Danny Shea. Jockey C. Quattlebaum arrived from New York and reported to J. Y. Christmas, for whom he will ride this season. Vedalia, owned by Mrs. E. J. Chambers, came out of his race Tuesday lame. The entry of the plater was refused for the future, unless accompanied by a veterinarians certificate. The stewards for the Havre de Grace meeting are W. L. Harron, Herman Conklin and George Brown, Jr. Jay Jay, owned by Howard Bruce, i3 looked upon as a certain starter in the Harford Handicap, according to stable connections.
