I INGLEWOOD, Calif., April 12. Stables intent on campaigning at the second sum- mer race meeting of the Hollywood Turf Club, which opens here June 1, are checking in nearly every day. At present more than 150 thoroughbreds are on the grounds and in light training. Nearly 200 head will be vanned over from Santa Anita within the next week or two, bringing the stable population to the 350 mark. General manager J. F. Mackenzie announced today that the main track will be thrown open for training April 15. In the interim, horses are working out over the new five-eighths of a mile training track, which was completed several weeks ago. Biggest string stabled at Hollywood Park is that owned by Louis B. Mayer, motion picture executive, who has twenty-five head in charge of T. D. "Pinky" Grimes. Included are Main Man, Quick Devil, Routine, Os-sabaw and nineteen crack two-year-olds 1 purchased last year at the Saratoga sales. STRATTONS BIG STABLE. George W. Stratton, aviation executive, who races a formidable string under the nom de course Circle S Stable has nineteen head here being trained by ex-jockey Mose Helm. Star performer is High Lark, a five-year-old Blue Larkspur gelding which Stratton purchased from Alfred G. Vanderbilt last month. One of the most powerful outfits on the grounds is the nine-horse stable representing Bing Crosby and Lin Howards Bingliri Stock Farms. Comprised of Argentine-bred gallopers, except for one two-year-old California-bred filly, the Binglin forces are expected to cut a heavy figure in the quest for stakes at the forthcoming meeting. Trained by Lin Howard himself, the Binglin string includes Ligaroti, three-time stakes winner at the inaugural meeting here; Don Mike, a hard-running router which has shown to advantage in his two American starts; Olimpo, another handicap threat by Fogan, Liga-rotis sire; Comet n., a useful sprinter; Sa-bueso, a graded handicap performer; and three newcomers Profundo, Etoila and Preceptor. Howard also trains Ras Taffari, a four-year-old Latin racer owned by the newly-formed Boblee Stable of Mrs. Dixie Lee Crosby and Bob Howard. B. P. Arigotal, a four-year-old son of Ariel, which has developed into a top-flight sprint star, heads the stable of R. C. Ellsworth. Keeping Arigotal company are nine rugged two-year-olds, all foaled in Arizona, which are .being readied for their debuts here. - TODAY AT HOLLYWOOD. Today, the great- son of Whichone, owned by Neil S. McCarthy, will continue on the comeback trail at Hollywood Park this summer. McCarthy has Today and ten others stabled here, pointing for the opening of the forty-three-day meeting. With accommodations for more than 1,200 horses, due to the completion of ten new barns in the stable area, racing secretary Webb Everett anticipates a huge influx of horses of the better class to compete for the more than 00,000 in stakes and purses offered this summer by the Hollywood Turf Club. Announcement was made recently of the appointment of George R. "Buddy" Wing-field as the official starter for the second season of racing. Wingfield, a nationally-known starter, has served at the countrys leading race tracks. v
