SORTIES SON, steadied along early, moved up rapidly when called upon, established a big lead after reaching the stretch, tired in the last stride and finished in a dead heat with BROADWAY JUEL. The latter, rushed into a good early lead, gave way to SORTIES SON approaching the stretch, came again under strong handling " and "finished on even terms with SORTIES SON. TACHEONE, well up from the start, held on well. FANDAN had no mishaps. BOY VALET was outrun. INTRIP quit. PAUL T. caused the post delay and trailed throughout. PAY-OFF IN ALL DEAD HEATS In the case of any and all dead heats, wagers made away from the track the chart prices should prevail if track odds were offered and accepted. Where house odds were accepted, the procedure should be as follows: If was bet on each horse and b to 1 laid on one horse, the pay-off should be .00 to the payer and S2.00 to the layer; if 2 to 1 was laid on the other, the pay-off should be .50 to the player and .50 to the layer. Where one of the horses in a dead heat is quoted at odds-on or less than even money, the transaction is a loser. For instance, if .00 is bet on a 4 to 5 shot, the pay-off in the dead heat would be 90 cents to the layer and 90 cents to the player. The amount of money bet, plus the odds laid, with the total divided equally between the player and layer, is the regular method of pay-off in dead heats where bookmaking odds prevail.
