SKATING MAD, forced wide when improving his position, bore over slightly entering the stretch and closed resolutely. CHINKER CHEK, a strong factor from the start, held on well. GOLDEN DIAL began fastest, was in close quarters on the turn and tired in the last stages. MOON RIVER closed fast on the inside. BROWN MOSS made up ground. DR. HAWES was pinched back on the turn and showed little thereafter. SPEED TO BURN had speed. MISS LIZZIE, cleverly ridden and away fastest, was taken in hand when ADA W. and STAR BESS moved forward on the inside, responded well when called upon, .took command entering the stretch and, after drawing clear under strong handling, held GOLDEN ARIEL safe. The latter, in close quarters early, was rushed to the leaders when clear and, finding room in the middle of the field, closed with a rush. STAR BESS, hustled along from the start, wore down ADA W. entering the far turn, was unable to draw clear and gave way to the winner, but held on well. ADA W. tired. FLIGHTAWAY had no mishaps. PRESUMPTION began from outside of the stalls and showed little. RIPPLEALONG was unable to keep up. PLAYREEN was outrun. SUCRE quit. MARGARET G. was outrun. OLD JOE, slow to begin and taken in hand after being hustled into contention, moved forward when ready, engaged SLAVIC after reaching the final eighth and outfinished her. The latter forced SPORTS WRITER wide on the lower turn, was reserved when the latter was hustled into a good lead and improved her position when called upon, took command nearing the final quarter, was unable to draw clear, but held on in game fashion and did not relinquish the lead until inside the final thirty yards. SPORTS WRITER overcame early interference to establish a good lead during the opening five-sixteenths, was placed under strong restraint until challenged and, kept next to the rail" in the deepest going, tired steadily in the drive. T. MARCUS had no mishaps. COUNTESS MAID showed little. TALLAHASSEE was rushed forward on the inside and quit badlv after five-eighths. Scratched— 72859Atatime, 105. RAPID WAY, hustled along from the start, fouled CHARITABLE repeatedly during the final five-sixteenths and, thusly benefited, finished second, but was disqualified for fouling and placed fifth. FLYING MARY ducked to the outside entering the main course, improved her position when straight and closed with a rush. CHARITABLE, well up from the start, stumbled approaching the final three-eighths, came fast after recovering, but after being bothered by RAPID WAY, tired near the end.
