THE JOCKEY CLUB. In races of intermediate lengths the weights for the shorter distance shall be carried., In races exclusively for three-year-olds or four-year-olds the weight shall be 126 pounds, and lor two-year-olds, 122 pounds. Except in handicaps and in races where the conditions expressly state to the contrary, fillies two years old shall be allowed three pounds, and fillies and mares three years old and over shall be allowed five pounds before September 1 and three pounds thereafter. Welter weights shall be twenty-eight pounds added to the weight-for-age. In all handicaps, except selling handicaps, when the added money exceeds 00, the top weight shall not be less than 126 pounds. No gelding three years old or over shall be qualified to start in any race closing seventy-two 72 hours or more before the date of running, except handicaps and selling races. In all overnight races except handicaps not more than six pounds may be deducted from the scale of weights for age, except for allowances, but in no case shall the total allowances of any type reduce the lowest weight below 103 pounds. KENTUCKY STATE BACING COMMISSION. In races of intermediate lengths the weights for the shorter distance shall be carried. In races exclusively for three-year-olds or four-year-olds the weight shall be 126 pounds, and for two-year-olds 122 pounds. Except in handicaps and in races where the conditions expressly state to the contrary, fillies two years old shall be allowed three pounds, and fillies and mares three years old and over shall be allowed five pounds before September 1 and three pounds thereafter. Except in handicaps, no horse shall carry less than 100 pounds in any race. Sex allowance for fillies and mares. ILLINOIS STATE BACING COMMISSION. In all overnight claiming and condition races not more than six pounds may be deducted from the scale of weight-for-age, based on The Jockey Club of New York scale of weights, except for allowances, but in no case shall the total allowances of any type reduce the lowest weight below 103 pounds. In all handicaps which close more than seventy-two 72 hours prior to the race, top weight shall not be less than the scale weight. In all overnight handicaps the top weight shall not be less than 122 pounds. MASSACHUSETTS STATE BACING COMMISSION. In all overnight claiming and condition races, the minimum • weight shall be 103 pounds and in no case shall the total allowances of any type reduce the lowest weight below 103 pounds. In all handicaps which close more than seventy-two 72 hours prior to the race, top weight shall not be less than the scale weight. In all overnight handicaps the top weight shall not be less than 122 pounds. MABYLAND BACING COMMISSION. In races exclusively for three-year-olds or four-year-olds, the weight shall be 126 pounds, and for two-year-olds, 122 pounds. Mares of all ages shall bo allowed three pounds. Welter weights shall be twenty-eight pounds add to the weight-for-age. In heavy-handicaps the top v/eight shall not be les3 than 140 pounds. In all handicaps, when the added money exceeds 00, the top weight shall not be less than 126 pounds. AGUA CALTJENTE JOCKEY CLUB. In races of intermediate lengths the weights for the shorter distance shall be carried. In a race exclusively for two-year-olds the weight shall be 118 pounds. In a race exclusively for three-year-olds or four-year-olds, the weight shall be 122 pounds. Except in handicaps and in races where the weights are fixed absolutely in the conditions, fillies two years old and geldings of all ages shall be allowed three pounds, and fillies and mares three years old and over shall be allowed five pounds before September 1 and three pounds thereafter. Welter weights shall be twenty-eight pounds added to the weight-for-age. In heavy handicaps the top weight shall not be less than 140 pounds. FLOBEDA BACING COMMISSION. AH races to be governed by rules adopted by The Jockey Club. STEEPLECHASE WEIGHTS. At the eastern tracks all steeplechase races are run under the rules of the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association, which provides these weights: For steeplechases less than three miles — From January 1 to August 31, inclusive, three years, 135 pounds; four years, 149 pounds; five years, 157 pounds; six years and over, 162 pounds. From September 1 to December 31, inclusive, three years, 137 pounds; four years, 154 pounds; five years, 160 pounds; six years and over, 162 pounds. For steeplechases of three miles and over — From January 1 to August 31, inclusive, four years, 143 pounds; five years, 155 pounds; six years and over, 160 pounds. From September 1 to December 31, inclusive, four years, 149 pounds; five years, 158 pounds; six years and over, 160 pounds. For hurdle races— From January 1 to August 31, inclusive, three years, 135 pounds; four years, 142 pounds; five years, 152 pounds; six years and over, 156 pounds. From September 1 to December 31, inclusive, three years, 142 pounds; four years, 155 pounds; five years and over, 161 pounds. All races exclusively for three-year-olds the weight shall be 135 pounds. Except in handicaps and in races where the weights are fixed absolutely in the conditions, mares shall be allowed five pounds before September 1, and three pounds thereafter. For races on the flat under Hunt Club auspices the scale of weights adopted by The Jockey Club shall govern and in respect to such races, welter weights shall be twenty-eight pounds above the weight-for-age. In the West the weights specified by the Western Jockey Club and the American Turf Association were identical and are as follows: Jan. April July Oct. Age. Feb. May Aug. Nor. March June Sept. Dec. 3- year-oJds 125 129 134 140 4- year-olds 147 149 151 154 5- year-olds 157 160 163 164 6- ycar-olds and over 168 170 172 172 The rules of the Canadian Racing Associations governing steeplechase and hurdle races provide that no horse shall be permitted to start in any steeplechase or hurdle race carrying less than 130 pounds. When a scale of weights for age is not fixed by the regulations of any course or by the conditions of a meeting or race, the following scale shall govern: For steeplechases and hurdle races less than three miles — From January 1 to July 31, inclusive, four years, 145 pounds; five years, 150 pounds; six years and over, 166 pounds. From August 1 to December 31, inclusive, three years, 138 pounds; four years, 155 pounds; five years, 163 pounds; six years and over, 166 pounds. For steeplechases of three miles and over — From January 1 to August 31, inclusive, four years, 138 pounds; five years, 157 pounds; six years and over, 160 pounds. From September 1 to December 31, inclusive, four years, 143 pounds; over, 165 pounds. Except in handicaps and in all races where the conditions expressly state to the contrary, mares shall be allowed five pounds before September 1, and three pounds thereafter. Geldings allowed three pounds.
