ABMERES, away fast and racing in good form, followed the early pacemaker under steady restraint, easily overtook STEADY DON when ready in the final quarter and continued well while winning with something left. STEADY DON took command quickly, appeared nicely in hand for a half mile, but pffered little resistance when challenged yet held the others safe. BROADUS, rank at the post, but away well, could not improve his position early but rallied mildly in the stretch and was going resolutely in the final stages. HE SAID moved up boldly soon after reaching the stretch, but faltered in the last sixteenth. TIME PLEASE failed to keep up after a half mile. DICK NAISHAPUR, away slowly, raced very wide i;thp final half mile. PAUSE, fractious at the post and away slowly, lacked spend and was always far back. CADDIECAY quit. BOATS CREW showed nothing. J MAEBRILLE appeared to bear over while racing into the lead with a rush eoing into the turn, drew t clear approaching the stretch and held the advantage safe thereafter. BOY BABY, away slowly, also appeared to come over when moving up fast in the first three-sixteenths, failed to reach the winner under good pressure and tired in the late stages, but hold COOPERSTOWN safe. The latter, quick to recover after meeting sharp interference in the first eighth, continued to move up soon after reaching the stretch and hung on with determination in the last eighth. FIRST UP raced well. SWEET DONNA suffered mild early interference, then moved up when clear, but eave wav slirfitly in the drive. DENVER raced wide. BUSS, GOOD SERVANT and SIR ELMER were crowded back before going a quarter. GRAVY TRAIN bolted on the turn. GINOCCHIO, quickest to begin, but taken under steady restraint to force the pace, slowly shook off QELTA DAN while closing with determination and, under brisk pressure, drew clear in the last few strides. DELTA DAN, on the inside throughout, had good speed and held on well, but was overmatched. ■ BLUEFIELD, never a great distance back, moved up on the inside entering the stretch and tired while I continuing on the inside in the last eighth. Won driving; second and third the same. VISCOUNTY, racing in fine form and on the outside throughout, improved his position steadily while under a good hold the first three-quarters, took command with a rush soon after reaching the stretch and bearing over repeatedly in the final eighth, prevented the rider from doing him justice and just lasted. TECHNICIAN, a sharp factor from the start, rallied to light urging when approaching the stretch, failed to withstand the winners challenge, but, holding on well while in close quarters the entire final eighth, slowly made up ground and might have gotten up in another stride. STEEL HEELS was in hand for almost five-eighths, was shaken up on the stretch turn and continued in resolute fashion to the last eighth, where he tired. PORTERS MITE had fine speed, saved ground throughout and was not strongly persevered with when he tired in the last three-sixteenths. YALE O NINE was held safe. AMERICAN BYRD had no mishaps. FERN CREEK was placed outside the stalls for the start. Following the race TECHNICIAN and VISCOUNTY galloped out an additional eighth in 1:52%; STEEL HEELS an additional quarter in 2:08%; YALE O NINE a like distance in 2.08%, and PORTERS MITE an extra quarter in 2:09. SOUTHLAND BEAU, kent up under mild urging early, raced to the leaders on the stretch turn and, wearing down GREY STREAK, came away steadily in the last eighth. GREY STREAK" was a strong factor from the start, took a short advantage without need of stout pressure on the stretch turn, saved ground in the stretch and fought it out gamely in the drive. ALLANWOOD raced wide throughout and, never a great distance back, was under vigorous riding after a half mile and held on fairly well. OPERA STAR had speed and drifted out when tiring in the last three-sixteenths. BACON, away well but taken back when in close quarters approaching the turn, did not threaten thereafter and pulled up lame. The others had no mishaps. ... . . . COPPER ROD, under a snug hold for five-eighths, began to improve his position thereafter under light urging, was put to increased pressure in the final quarter and was up in the last sixteenth. SERENATA MAID, well up and in hand for three-quarters, responded to pressure thereafter and held on well, but could not stall off the winner. EMPORIUM, slow to begin, began to improve his position steadily after three-eighths, took command on the second turn and drew out approaching the last eighth, but then faltered. DETAINED, in hand to the second turn, failed to rally when called upon thereafter. BLANCO SWEEP passed tiring horses in the last quarter. BIENCHANCE lacked speed and failed to threaten.
