How to Figure Parlays For a two-horse parlay in pari-mutuel betting multiply the prices paid together | and divide by four. This is what you get back on a dollar bet, including your dollar. Multiply this result by the number of dollars bet for your total return. Example: Two horses pay .00 each; 6 times 6 is 36, divided by 4, gives .00, the amount you get back, including your dollar. Then multiply by the number of dollars played. On a three-horse parlay multiply the three prices together and divided by eight. Thus: Prices .00, .00 and .00; 4 times 8 is 32 and 6 times 32 is 192. Divided by 8, gives 4. Then multiply by the number of dollars played. This works out on odd cents in mutuels, but care must be taken in placing the decimal point for cents after each multiplication. It makes no difference whether it is a straight parlay or not, the figures hold true in figuring straight on one horse, place on another and show on another.
