The horse traveled by express and was the only equine occupant of the car. He was accompanied by groom Kay and exercise lad Fontaine. Trainer Sande went on the same train. After Heather Brooms Monday morning workout of ten furlongs in 2:06 at Keeneland, many local people are of the opinion that he has better than an outside chance for the big prize next Saturday. Trainer Jimmy Smith will ship Charles T. Fishers Dixiana string of twenty-eight horses from Dixiana Farm to Detroit Fair Grounds in two cars, leaving Wednesday afternoon. R. W. Collins shipped a string of ten head from Elmhurst Farm to Suffolk Downs Monday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Travers and Miss Genevieve Travers, New York; Mrs. Geo. Wagstaff and Miss Dorothy Wagstaff, Aiken, S. C, and Mrs. J. Lockwood Bradley, San Mateo, Calif., and Mrs. Catherine Bradley Bailey, Palm Beach, Fla., are guests of Col. E. R. Bradley at Idle Hour Farm and will see the running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs from the Bradley box next Saturday. Walter U. Ridenour shipped a string of eight horses from Keeneland to the Detroit Fair Grounds Sunday afternoon. J. P. Keezek left Keeneland Tuesday morning with a division of Leo J. Marks Le Mar Stock Farm stable for Fairmount Park. He took eleven runners and a pony. Cromwell Bloodstock Agency bought from J. E. Carter a yearling brown colt by Cynic — Anna. Sweep, by Sweep, and a yearling filly by Okapi — Ruth Carter, by Handsel. The colt is a half brother to the winners Golden Sweep, Will Wells, Mad A., Bourbon Prince, Sweeping Hour, El Bandito, Buck Private and Daisy Carter, and the filly is a half sister to the winners W. P. Montgomery, Grace Daugherty, Alice Lang, Ruth Gold, Judge Staylor, Artistry, Commish Gary and Jolly Faye. Dan B. Midkiff sold to John Muth for Manly Carter of Orange, Va., the two-year-old chestnut gelding Glamour Man, by Brilliant—Hidden Star III., by Star Hawk. Glamour Man is to be used for hunting in the future. Two mares owned by Thomas Bragg have arrived at Slickaway Farm, Lexington, after having been bred to Lawrin, 1938 Kentucky Derby winner, at Herbert M. Woolfs Wool-ford Farm, near Kansas City. They are Phyllis Louise and Maenora. The latter has at side a suckling bay colt by Naishapur. Reports from Versailles Tuesday were to the effect that Roy Carruthers is feeling better. He is sitting up. Preparations are being made at Idle Hour Stock Farm for the departure of Col E. R. Bradleys string of thirty horses in charge of trainer William Hurley for Belmont Park on Friday of this week. Colonel Bradley is planning to leave the same day, accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Catherine Bailey. Barry .Shannon and his family left Palm Beach Fla., and are due at Idle Hour Farm Tuesday night. They have been away since early December. The Shooter was transferred from Hunter C. Moodys barn to W. E. Caskeys Bramble Farm. This son of Lucky Tom — Compensation, by Star Hawk, has been listed with Cromwell Bloodstock Agency for sale. It is not expected that he will stand training again, but may interest some one as a sire. Samuel D. Riddle and party are expected at Faraway Farms this week to remain until after the running of the Kentucky Derby; next Saturday. Adolph E. Pons is due here this week from New York to inspect the Mereworth Stud horses and to see the Derby race.
