j SOUND OF KLAXON WARNING Blast of Horn on New York Tracks in Future Means Players Must Read Bulletin Board. NEW YORK, N. T., May 2.— As a result of the confusion and controversy following the withdrawal of Pontius in the third race at Jamaica Saturday, the stewards for the meeting issued the following notice and ruling: "Hereafter all the racing programs will carry a statement to the following effect: When klaxon horn is sounded, look at bulletin boards under the grand stand and in the clubhouse for an important notice. On the bulletin boards in the grandstand, clubhouse and elsewhere, notices will be posted as follows: Due to the withdrawal of an entrant before he has left the paddock, wagers must be re-arranged. " The step was taken by the tracks at the suggestion of the State Racing Commission after a preliminary examination. Chairman j Herbert Bayard Swopc pointed out that the j commission does not assume responsibility for wagering, but is charged with the protection of the public. By this means it is believed that the public will be notified that former wagers do not stand, but will have to be remade. The investigations into Saturdays incident ; are continuing to discover, among other things, how widely informed the public was I by the track that wagers made previously to Pontius withdrawal had been called off.
