GORSE was hurried into a contending position going to the first turn, reached the pacemaker to assume command nearing the stretch, drew clear and had speed in reserve to the end. CAREFUL MISS bettered her position while saving ground, came through on the inside when straightened into the stretch and finished gamely. GOLDEN VEIN, placed prominently early, made a stout challenge at the final turn and held on gamely to the close. RED JACK raced to the front early, was steadied until challenged and continued courageously when caught. GUEST OF HONOUR II. lost ground in the last half mile while finishing stoutly from a slow beginning. ANGLO SAXON had no excuses. LADY ROMA and SETEMUP were outrun.
