MAECHANCE moved into command at the start, showed speed throughout, saved ground thereafter and had speed in reserve at the end. WHOOSH, in near pursuit of the pace from the start, was placed under pressure in the stretch, but could not menace the winner. BABY BOOTIES showed an even effort all the way. ATUM RE saved ground throughout, but could not menace the leaders at any stage. MARION W. was outrun and was never a factor. Scratched — Stinging, 103. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE. SANDY BILL displayed speed from the start and saved ground all the way, shook off determined opposition from EARLY EVENING and drew away at the finish. The latter, in nearest pursuit of the pace from the start, made a determined bid rounding the far turn, but was not good enough and faltered in the final eighth. TEDALL showed a good effort and had no mishaps. ELDEE was outrun to the stretch turn and then made up some ground slowly. DOROTHY OWSLEY had no mishaps in the running and was never a factor. MODEST QUEEN raced close to the pace from the start, responded to severe pressure in the stretch run and wore down EBONY FLY in the final strides. The latter was sent into command at the start, showed speed while saving ground and held on well to the end. BE A BELLE began slowly, but moved up fast on the outside and then closed with determination at the finish. DINI was well up throughout and had no. mishaps. CHERACHIN, from a slow beginning, closed some ground at the end. CARRIE K. showed a flash of speed. EGRESS was fractious at the post. CHEROLIZE raced well. BEE BRIGHT had no mishaps in the running. BOOK PLATE was under restraint to the far turn, where he moved up on the outside, was under mild restraint until well settled in the stretch run, responded when urged and disposed of SELMALAD in the final drive. The latter set a fast pace from the start, saved ground all the way and then held on well to the end. SASSY LADY showed early speed, but was under restraint when outrun and tlien came again at the finish. JOHNS HEIR showed a good effort throughout. SHOHOLA saved ground and had no mishaps in the running. PONTIUS had no mishaps. ROCK MAKER was fractious at the post, breaking slowly from outside the stalls. The latter was rushed up on the inside in the run through the back stretch into close quarters, was taken up and then, hard ridden thereafter on the inside, only to tire at the finish. BROAD TAIL, on the outside -and under urging in the early stages, could not keep up. GEORGES BREAK was outrun the first part and then made up some ground. GLENASTAR had no mishaps in the running.
