ARCTIC STAR, hustled from the start to gain a contending position, saved ground in the run down the back stretch, responded when called upon turning into the stretch, disposed of MUSCLE IN and held SILVER FLEET safe. The latter, never a great distance back and steered to the outside for the final drive, responded gamely, but was not good enough. MUSCLE IN set the pace under occasional pressure, , saved ground in the final stages, but tired in the closing drive. QUOTUM made a bold bid entering the stretch, but could not reach the leaders. RHIMEDA tired in the final run. GREEN COUNTRY had no mishaps. ROSA DEAR lacked speed. CARL B. failed to respond under strong urging. Overweight — Silver Fleet, 5 pounds. BLIND HOPE, racing on the inside setting the pace with BLIND SAGE, responded to mild urging in shaking off the latter turning into the stretch and, under strong handling the final sixteenth, withstood FOB. The latter raced slightly wide in the early stages, came out for the final drive and, closing strongly, might have been best in another stride. MISS ADAMS raced forwardly from the start under mild restraint, was placed under strong pressure in the final stages and closed resolutely. GRANDMAS BOY, never a great distance back and strongly handled in the final stages, held on gamely in the closing strides. BLIND SAGE, hustled from the start, faltered in the final seventy yards. SARAH JUSTICE, forced to race wide the entire trip, failed to respond in the final drive. KAYAK had no mishaps. CATCHALL lacked speed. Scratched— 70438 Stormy Sea, 115.
