I ; BON HAMBURG FINISHES FIRST Wins Main Attraction at Beulah Park From Opoca — Large Ladies Day Gathering. GROVE CITY, Ohio, May 8. — L. Clous Bon Hamburg, after working his way up on the outside, eventually overhauled Opoca when midway of the stretch and drew clear during the closing stages of the C. H. Hayes and Sons Purse, sixth and best offering at Beulah Park this afternoon. Opoca, after racing prominently from the start, was hard pressed nearing the end to withstand the final bid of Thistle Red, which closed a wide gap. At the conclusion of this race Mrs. Charles N. Hayes made the presentation of the trophy to L. Clous, the owner and trainer of Bon Hamburg. At intervals the weather became threatening, but otherwise the conditions were ideal. It was Ladies Day and the gentler sex swelled the attendance above the average for ;an off day. The running of the fourth dash provided the most exciting finish of the afternoon, the placed trio reaching the wire almost on a line. Trace Boy only headed Captain Jef-fers in the last few strides, with Rock High in third place and finishing fastest of all. Rail Down only wore down Ann Star during the closing stages of the fifth race, but Pass Forward, Ina Dear and Honey Chile all led throughout by rather comfortable margins.
