BILLY HERMAN BENCHED NEW YORK, N. Y., May 8.— As a result of the Cubs, 10 to 3, defeat at the hands of the New York Giants yesterday, Manager Gabby Hartnett ordered Capt. Billy Herman, a regular with the Cub.s since 1932, out of the lineup. Hermans work both offensively and defensively was called unsatisfactory. Phil Cavarretta, who was relegated to the sidelines Friday, replaced Joe* Marty in todays lineup. Jim Gleeson will also replace Hank Leiber in centerfield. *
