TIMBER FIRE IN MICHIGAN ONAWAY, Mich., May 8. — A North country feud over hunting privileges today was blamed for the worst timber fire in the history of Michigan. The fire raged unabated over 80,000 acres in three counties today, with 2,000 men fighting the flames under the direction of conservation officers flying over the burning timber in a radio-equipped airplane. Conservation officials said they knew firebugs started the fire and promised arrests as soon as the conflagration is brought under control. Huntsmen in the North country were openly antagonistic to the Canadian Creek Ranch Club, a private club that recently won exclusive rights to choice hunting grounds near Onaway. The fire started* near the clubs 5,000 ranch house, and conservative authorities said at least fifty fires were started simultaneously. The fire spread over three counties, Presquile, Cheboygan and Montmorency, and enveloped sixty square miles of state park land.
