1 NARRAGANSETT PARK NOTES I s— $ Two runaways caused a little excitement on the back stretch Monday morning. Set-emup, after working seven-eighths of a mile, ran away for a mile and a half. Carnival Time broke away from the boy on a lead pony and galloped off for two miles before being caught. Paul Mecklenburg, Canadian horseman, who has been campaigning at Gansett, will ship his string to Detroit after the close of the meeting here. Miss Hambla Bauer, well known owner and trainer, has purchased the veteran chestnut gelding Idolatry from Mrs. Floyd West at private sale. H. Schutte, contract rider for the stable of Mrs. Emil Denemark, led all riders at Gansett in money earnings last week. Schutte earned 28; Euclid LeBlanc, 78; Earl Ma-loney, 18; J. Ashcroft, 10, and K. Mc-Combs, 84. Raymond Adair, who was kicked by a two-year-old last week, returned to the saddle Monday, accepting three mounts. J. Y. Christmas came in from Maryland Monday with four head, Time Beater, Fredrick, Hildric and Cleaning Time. W. Hirschensohn and his trainer, Sol Rut-chick, arrived from New York. Mr. Hirschensohn came to inspect his string and to watch his horse, Cobe, run Monday afternoon. Starter "Buddy" Wingfield and his crew Will leave for California immediately after the close of the Gansett meeting. Wingfield will serve as starter at the Hollywood track at Inglewood, returning to Gansett for the summer meeting. John J. Martin will ship his string to Detroit at the close of the current Gansett meeting. Trainer H. H. Brown, who trains for Miss Ruth Sidell, will ship to Chicago at the close of the meeting.
