3 FIRST LOCAL MEETING Lincoln Fields Opens Chicago Season on Thursday, May 25. Nominations for Eleven Stake Events Close Tomorrow — Entries Being • Received in Gratifying Numbers. When nominations for the eleven ,500 added stakes, to be run at Lincoln Fields, close on Wednesday, the subscription list is expected to include representatives of many of the strongest racing stables in the Middle West. Nominations are being received in gratifying numbers and the final lists may be among the heaviest the track has ever received for its added money features. The Lincoln Fields meeting, which opens the Chicago racing season, will run twenty-seven days from May 25 through June 24, and during that time features will be presented for horses of all classes. Among the new stakes on this years program is the Kankakee Handicap, a mile sprint fashioned for fillies and mares, three years old and "older, and it is down for decision on the first Saturday of the session, May 27. Besides the Kankakee, other handicaps to -be offered are the Crete, Dearborn, Chicago Heights, Francis S. Peabody, Steger, Joliet, LaSalle, Calumet, Marquette and Lincoln. ENTRIES AT CONGRESS HOTEL. Nominations to these features are being received at the Lincoln Fields Jockey Club, headquarters at Suite No. 1540 in the Congress Hotel, Chicago. Some of the stables whose horses are expected to be found among the entries are those of Emerson F. Woodward, Joseph E. Widener, Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, John Marsch, "P. A. and R. J. Nash. Mrs. Emil Denemark, E. E. Fogelson, W. F. Morgan, Morris Ve-hon, C. E. Davison, Mrs. A. M. Creech, Ros-coe Goose, S. Bryant Ott, Jake Lowenstein. Charles T. Fisher, Howard Oots, William E. Smith, Theodore E. Mueller and many more. Col. M. J. Winn, head of the track, is ex- • pected here tomorrow from Louisville, where he staged the sixty-fifth Kentucky Derby and will personally direct further preparations for the meeting. C. Bruce Head, general manager, was here Sunday in connection with the meeting and, having returned to Louisville, will be back here next week to remain until after the meeting. LIST OF STAKES. The stakes for which nominations close Wednesday are: May 25 — Crete Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, six furlongs. May 27 — Dearborn Handicap, two-year-olds, fillies, five furlongs. May 27 — Kankakee Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, fillies and mares, one mile. May 30 — Chicago Heights Handicap, two-year-olds, colts and geldings, five furlongs. May 30 — Peabody Memorial Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, one mile. June 3 — Steger Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, seven furlongs. June 3 — Joliet Handicap, two-year-olds, five furlongs. - June 10 — LaSalle Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, one and three-sixteenth miles. June 17 — Calumet Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, six furlongs. June 17 — Marquette Handicap, three-year-old and upward, one and one-eighth miles. June 24-Lincoln Handicap, three-year-olds and upward, one and one-sixteenth miles.
