DERBY DAY WAGERING LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 8— The record-breaking crowd which witnessed the sixty-fifth running of the Kentucky Derby at. Churchill Downs Saturday wagered a total of 84,977 on the outcome of the classic and a total of ,674,599 on the entire program, a considerable increase in "handle" over last year. In 1939 the total amount wagered on Derby Day was ,511,689, of which 28,742 was handled on the big race.
