BUY 5,500,000 OP PLANES NEW YORK, N. Y., May 13.— Speeding their rearmament program to combat Germanys air supremacy, Great Britain and France have purchased a total of 5,500,000 worth of American fighting planes during the past four months, the state department disclosed today. British purchases totalled 4,008,980 and Frances 1,503,357. Together, the two European powers have purchased more planes than any other world powers from American aircraft factories during the last two years.
