EXPECT RECORD ENTRY LIST Arlington Futurity and Lassie Stakes Close for Third and Final Payment on May 15. Record entries are predicted with the payment of the third and final fees to the Arlington Futurity and Lassie Stakes, mid-west racings most important tests for two-year-olds, on Monday, May 15. These two stakes, which will be run during the thirty-day meeting at swank Arlington Park in July, produced notable increases in the numbers of nominees remaining" in after the first and second payments and the advance in interest is expected to leave about 125 in the Futurity and more than 100 in the Lassie after the final payments. Both races carry handsome prizes. The Arlington Futurity, with 0,000 in added money, likely will gross ยง55,000 while the 0,000 added Lassie is expected to gross 5,000. In the Futurity the winning owner and the winning breeder each will receive solid gold replicas of the historic Coronation Cup won in England in 1929 by Mrs. John Hertz Reigh Count. The Futurity is a six furlongs test for two-year-old colts, geldings and fillies and will be run on closing day of the Arlington meet on Saturday, July 29. The Lassie, restricted to juvenile fillies and also at six furlongs, , will be run on Saturday, July 15. The 0,000 Classic Stakes, which annually brings to Chicago the princes and pretenders of the glamorous three-year-old division, closed recently with a record entry list that included Johnstown, the hero of the Kentucky Derby; Challedon, Technician, Eight Thirty, Ciencia, Viscounty and seventy-one others. The remaining five stakes that feature the meet opening oh June 26 will close their nomination lists on June 1. Nominations for these five races and the final fees for the Futurity and Lassie are to be forwarded to the Arlington Park Jockey Club, P. O. Box Q, Arlington Heights, 111.
