GEORGE P. PUTNAM ABDUCTED BAKERSFIELD, Calif., May 13.— Police and sheriffs deputies of two counties today began a search for kidnappers following early morning reports from George Palmer Putnam, noted publisher and husband of the late world-famous aviatrix, Amelia Earhart, that he had been abducted from his north Hollywood home and spirited to Bakersfield. The publisher, known for his outspoken opposition to Nazism, as he left the Kern County city for his home, said he was prepared to enlist the federal authorities in the search for the kidnappers — two men who conversed in German and demanded where he got his information about Hitler and the Nazis.
