BROAD INVESTMENT INQUIRY WASHINGTON, D. C, May 13.— Preparations were completed today for a broad investment inquiry by the Federal monopoly; investigating committee, which will bring many of the nations great financiers to the witness stand. Testimony will begin next Tuesday and three weeks of hearings will be held. The Securities and Exchange Commission will direct the questioning on investment practices of banking houses and investment trusts. Dr. Alvin H. Hansen, of Harvard, will be the first witness. Many outstanding financiers will come before the investigators. Considerable attention will be given to contentions that primary active capital markets of the nation are starving because too great a proportion of money goes into so-called institutional investments, such as savi ings, life insurance and trust funds.
