Escadru Works for Shevlin AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 28. Trainer Ed Christmas brought W. L. Branns Escadru, the likely favorite for Wednesdays 5,000 Shevlin stakes, over to Aqueduct late this morning and breezed him six furlongs in 1:17. The colt was merely making- his acquaintance with the track as he stepped the quarter in :27, half in :50, and five furlongs in 1:03. Bill Post also brought Harry LaMontagnes Caifero, the Argentine who was beaten favorite in the Sal-vator mile at Monmouth and was withdrawn from Saturdays Aqueduct Handicap. Caifero showed a high turn of speed as he stepped six furlongs in over the sloppy strip.
