KING HAL was quick to begin and was hustled along while saving ground, responded in the final furlong and held his field safe. WARS END was close up from the start, but was lugging in the final furlong and had SAMBET in close quarters. The latter, on the inside in the early stages, was sent to the outside of the pacemaker for the stretch run and when the winner bore out slightly in the. final furlong, was taken to the inside. P0UNDIT0UT, under pressure, finished well through the stretch run. SMARK L. was on the outside all the way and was unable to menace the leaders. JALOPEE was close up from the start and had no mishap. CROUPIER was quick to begin and hustled along, saved ground under pressure and outlasted BOMB COMMAND. The latter was sent to the outside for the stretch run and closed with a rush. FAIRANFIT appeared sore going to the post, improved his position steadily and finished well. MARLED was under pressure in the stretch, but could not menace the leaders. ALEMANNIA was in close quarters in the early running, moved up when clear and faltered in the stretch run. LENNIE BOY was outrun in the early stakes. LOOKINROSEY had some early speed and quit badly. OAK LEAF was sent up fast .in the final half-mile, then flattened out when put under pressure. McFONSO raced evenly. VADEN KING made up ground over tired horses. JOALJOY refused to break. WORD OF- HONOR was slow to settle in his stride and rounding the stretch turn lost ground, then finished fast when straightened out. SWAP OUT, on the inside in the early runningj Was blocked slightly when PRINCE QUEST bore over and closed well. LANDS END was a prominent factor all the way, but tired nearing the finish. LEANDER, under snug restraint early, moved up when roused, but hung. SAINT LYE, racing on the inside, held on well. OATMEAL failed to gain in the late stages.
