Four Apprentices Have Ridden Their First Winners at Delaware Meeting DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 28. Four new apprentice riders were board their first winners since this 30-day session opened on May 29, which may constitute somewhat of a record. Nicholas Shuk graduated from the non-winner ranks on Little Harp on May 31, Oliver J. Cutshaw had his "thrill of a life-time" when he won with Sandglass on June 8; Benjamin Civitello won his first race with Coral Way on June 11, and James Purser rode Ms initial winner on June 16. Purser hails from Jacksonville, Fla., and is under contract to Dr. James Lee. Cutshaw is from Lexington, Ky., and is with trainer Buddy Raines of the Brandywine Stable. Shuk, who comes from Chicago, is under contract to Jimmy McGee; and Civitellos papers are held by Mrs. E. H. Augustus.
