Cumberland Plans to Offer Minimum Purses of ,000 CHARLES TOWN, W. Va., June 28. An increase to ,000 in minimum purse distribution and-establishment of ,500 for each of two feature events to be contested during the 10-day session was agreed upon by the management of the Cumberland Fair Association, it was announced here this afternoon byH. H. Ferguson, secretary of the Maryland-Delaware-West Virginia division of the Horsemens Benevolent Association. An overall prize money disbursement of -3,000 will prevail during the July 20-July 31 meeting at the Western Maryland half-mile oval. This is in keeping with the request set before the association by the HBPA. It is understood that a similar purse setup will be in effect during the 10-day meet-ing;at the Hagerstown Fair at Hagerstown, Md! The HBPA has petitioned for increases in purses during later periods of the sport at Timonium, Marlboro and Bel Air.
