PATRICK, never farback and saving ground while improving his position to the stretch, assumed command when settled for the drive and -retained the advantage while under brisk urging. BOAT MAN, In hand to the last three-eighths, closed fast under punishment, but could not reach the winner, although easily best of the others. EXECUTION, outrun to the final quarter, moved up boldly entering the stretch, but failed to respond when set down in the drive. MALI JOHNNY could not threaten when sent to the inside for the stretch run. SHELTIE failed to stay after racing prominently until inside the stretch. ROYAL CHAP gave way after racing well to the upper turn. POTOMAC went to the front early, made the pace to the stretch, then tired badly. SHUT EYE was far back throughout. MONITOR, reserved to the stretch, came out for the drive and finished resolutely under brisk urging. SIR DATE held on well in a good effort. NOT TRUE was outrun. LARKMEAD JANE was never a threat.
