Brenton Light Crashes Limelight at Hollywood Takes Measure of Cosmopolite In Lassie; Longden Saddle Star HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif., June 28. Victories by Mrs. J. P. Adams Brenton Light, E. O. Stice and Sons On Trust and Prevaricator, Mrs. Ann Peppers The Web IE and Lou Rowans Mrs. Rabbit during the five-day period ending last Saturday lend further color to the Hollywood Park season which now is well into the. last half of its tenure. v Brenton Light distinguished herself last Saturday by capturing the 5,000 Lassie Stakes and in that event she beat some of the most promising juvenile fillies in the West. Brenton Light is a daughter of Ambrose Light and Generosity. Handled by Johnny Longden, who, incidentally, last Saturday won five races, Brenton Light charged through on the inside entering the stretch to take command and won with a little more than a length to spare from the more favored Cosmopolite from the Norman W. Church stable. Cosmopolite had the misfortune to stumble at the start and but for that circumstance I might have been the winner. As it was she had to race extremely wide and she still was much the best of the others. On Trust won the Coquette Handicap last Saturday and further entrenched himself as one of the favorites for the American Handicap and, later, the Hollywood Gold Cup. Also ridden by Longden, On Trust led over the entire mile and sixteenth of his engagement and scored by more than two lengths over Baroni and Battilanas Autocrat. The Montrose Stables Mafosta, who shared top weight of 128 pounds with On Trust, was third-. Mafosta also was the victim of poor luck. He was unprepared for the start and then had to be rushed into a cdntending: position. On Trusts stablemate, Prevaricator, gave a demonstration of his current fitness as a candidate for local handicap honors when he won a mile feature early last week. He ran the eight furlongs in .137 and led home a field that included Stepfather, Please Me, Brabancon, Hemet Squaw and Witch Sir. Mrs. Rabbit qualified for the 0,000 Westerner, which will have its running this Saturday, when she won the seven-furlong Los Angeles County Government Handicap last week. In front from soon after the start, Mrs. Rabbit won by two and a half lengths from Qandy Kane as five other three-year-old fillies followed in her wake.
