New Moving Starting Gate To Be Introduced in East LOS ANGELES, Calif., May 26.— A new moving starting gate for thoroughbred races will be introduced this summer on an eastern track, Billy Mills, starter at Santa Anita and Del Mar and inventor of the new gate, announced here yesterday. Explaining the mechanism, Mills stated that horses appeared to like the gate. They walk in from behind with the gate in motion and starts are made with the field moving at a mild walking pace. Trials at Santa Anita have proven so satisfactory, he declared, that eastern capitalists have | invested in the enterprise.
