Festival II. Seeks Blackwood on Turf Scored Last Week , Over Grass Course i Vies With Saint Nicholas, j Over Night, Futuresque and ■ Carmargo Bill at Washington ; WASHINGTON PARK, Homewood, HI., : * May 26r— Lincoln Fields "Peabody Week" opens Monday with the Blackwood Purse ; featuring the days program. .This is for four-year-olds and upwards and is at the distance of one and one-sixteenth miles on the grass course, it attracted eight starters currently racing in the ,5d0-,000 claim-ing class. They include the French-bred Festival II., winner at this track last Monday, when he was claimed by E. C. Roth and -Son, of Chicago, from Dixie McKinleyr of Lexington, Ky., for ,000. Several horsemen ventured the guess it might turn out to be the best claim of the season. Festival H. is a son of the French stallion, Adaris, now standing in Kentucky, whose first American foals are now two-year-olds. Both Winners at Current Meeting Opposing Festival n. in the Blackwood are Blossom Stables Futuresque, Mrs. J; L. Oglesbys Lutz Girl, M. H. VanBergs Over . Night, J. G. Ferraras Carmargo Bill, J. W. Sniders S. McLaughlin, Eugene Cons tan-tin, Jr.s, Fresh Breeze, and Brown Hotel Stables Saint Nicholas. Carmargo Bill nd Over Night are winners at this meeting, while Futuresque won his last three outings at Sportsmans Park. Saint Nicholas and Fresh Breeze have also earned brackets. Saint Nicholas was once considered the big horse of the Brown Hotel Stable as a three-year-old and placed in stakes. While he failed to live up to early expectations he has been a good earner for the Louisville stable and has won two races this season. Fresh Breeze is a product of the King Ranch of Texas. He was a good winner last year and has won two of his seven starts this season. Lutz Girl and S. McLaughlin, both rather consistent winners last ..year, have started only a few times this season. Lutz Girl finished fourth to Pad Lock in her second start, was unplaced behind Hypostyle in her latest effort last Thursday. S. McLaughlin, in her fourth start of the season, was unplaced in a race on May 19, won by Over Night.
