Y., May 26. — This coming week, highlighted by the Memorial Day offerings, will present some interesting racing throughout the country. Belmont Park has its traditional Suburban, the Jersey Handicap at Garden . State, the Peabody Memorial at Lincoln Fields, the Argonaut at Hollywood Park, the Christiana at Delaware Park and the Tomasello at Suffolk Downs are a few of the salient salipnf. features features that that salient salipnf. features features that that are down for decision on the holiday. This sextet of offerings are endowed with a total of 47,500 in added monies, with the local fixture carrying 0,000 of the sum. Then on Saturday, the Brandywine, Coaching Club Oaks, Hollywood Oaks, E. J. Fleming Memorial, and the Bay State Kindergarden are down for decision. Belmont again shows the way with a lavish unloosening of the purse strings as the Coaching Club carries 0,000 added. The fillies will monopolize the interest of racing men on both coasts, for Hollywood Park presents its version of the Oaks with a 5,000 purse. The local presentation shapes up as a good race, for taking a line through the Acorn a capacity field is assured for the week-end fixture. The Acorn turned in a double surprise for the winners of that split offering were none too high in favor with the paddock or clubhouse set. However, the Oaks is something else again and on a fast track and under clear skies the earlier form displayed by the better regarded ones may prevail. Who was the best filly to win the Coaching Club Oaks? Well, that question was raised among the paddock gang the other a. m., and bingo, there were more arguments started in a flash than alibis for a beaten favorite. When the tumult settled down, Cleopatra, Princess Doreen, Top Flight, Black Helen, Twilight Tear and Next Move had their supporters, with the jury as divided as a kids appetite at a picnic. Talking about picnics, the members in good standing of that grand old organization, Freeloaders Unlimited, shove off for Delaware Park, Tuesday. The occasion is to celebrate .the opening of that meeting and to bust all dieting rules that were ever drawn up. There are some good trenchermen in the party and their onsets on the food will be something to write home about and remember for future talking points. Jockey Eddie Arcaro will journey to Delaware Park where on Tuesday he will ride Tea-Maker, owned by F. Ambrose Clark, in the Wilmington Handicap; opening day feature of that meeting. He is due back for on Wednesday to be up on the Brookmeade Stables Greek Ship in the Suburban ..George Martin and Joe Cas-carella, officials of Laurel, were on hand from Baltimore. Joe will leave for a European trip in the near future seeking new ideas for Laurel and upon his return make the trek to Saratoga Springs for a few weeks racing ..Harry F. Guggenheim, master of Cain Hoy Stable, journeyed here yesterday to witness his juvenile Rub-Adub-Dub graduate and this morning was on hand to witness his Belmont hope Battle Morn perform a one mile training chore . . .Trainer Dolly Byers reported that Wm. Goadby Lowes The Pimpernel and F. A. Clarks Tea-Maker are to be returned from Delaware Park on Thursday following engagements at that track. . .Harry LaMon-tagnes Valadium turned in a smart performance as a prelude to her Coaching Club Oaks engagement. From a none too good start, the miss stepped the final four . and one-half furlongs of her effort in :53. Not bad at that . .The stake nomination blanks for the Saratoga meeting at Jamaica and upstate were distributed Among horsemen yesterday. . .Jimmy Combest will go to Delaware Park to ride Potpourri for C. V. Whitney in the Christiana Stakes on Wednesday. Jockey Bobby Permane, who moved on to Woodbine Park at Toronto for a Kings Plate chore, is due back to ride on Monday. . .Miss Marge Lindheimer is due here from Chicago on Tuesday and hopes to interest additional New Yorkers in the meetings at Arlington and Washington Parks. . .Trainer George M. Odom has decided to turn out Timely Reward, owned by Mrs. Wallace Gilroy, for a rest ...Mrs. John -Barry Ryan, who underwent a minor operation in the Presbyterian Hospital this week, is expected to be discharged the latter part of next r week. . .Bill Mason, an exercise boy with the Ada L. Rice stable, was admitted to-* the Mineola Hospital this morning with a broken leg. He hopes to have the blooms in good Condition for the "Night of Stars" entertainment for the benefit of local hospitals. . .Jack Colaneri is due back Monday from Garden State Park where he rode today. . .Jack Addison, of Canada, is due here on Monday for a lengthy stay. The Torontonian remained over to witness the running of the Kings Plate. . .Joe Donoghue, who planes to London to witness the running of the English Derby, boasted that he would bring back the blanket of roses to William Woodward, whose Turco is a prominent factor. Note to Joe at Epsom: they dont give no roses . . .The Thoroughbred Racing Associations in the absence of a 1951 "Triple Crown" winner will present its trophy to William Woodward whose Gallant Fox won that crown in 1930. That was back long before the trophy idea was inaugurated. . .Harry Stevens, of the catering clan, returned from a trip to Batavia, N. Y„ and the inauguration of racing at that track. . ."Big Jim" Healey, who trains the horses owned by the Connecticut patroness, Vera S. Bragg, has for the past few mornings rushed away from Belmont Park. The secret, tennis engagements at Forest Hills. The scouts say, for a big man, he is no slouch covering the back line.. Seven of the 13 starters named for the Rancocas Stakes at Garden State were invaders from the New York area. . .The Addison Stables Arise was returned to training this morning .for the first time following a long absence. His last appearance under colors was in the Grey Lag at Jamaica last fall.
