F. Warby; bred by C. F. Hockley and H. F. Guggenheim. WENT TO POST— 5:17. OFF AT 5:18 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won driving; second and third the same. THUNDERJET, prominent from the start, moved into closer contention on the outside on the far turn and finished with good courage to outgame JETSAM. The latter outsprinted the others into the initial turn, held sway to the final strides, then weakened. OPENING DAY lacked racing room when making his "bid along the rail. SUGAR PETE closed resolutely in a sharp effort. TAX LIEN had no apparent excuse. INDIAN GOLD was forced to take the overland route when making his belated bid. HAIR STYLIST was outrun, as usual. STEEPLE JACK lacked speed. KASLICK was never dangerous. Overweight— Tax Lien, 1* pounds; Big Buster, 1. Tax Lien claimed by J. Simon. Steeple Jack claimed by Saganaush Stable. Attendance, 7,763; Total Mutuel Pool, 39,871.
