Motor City Purse Draws Chow Line, Seven Others Seppenfield Racer Opens Detroit Campaign Fresh From Recent Win DETROIT, Mich., May 26.— The Michigan Racing Associations 56-day meeting is off to a splendid start and the first full week of spot at the Livonia course begins Monday. Post time for the initial event is set for 3:45 p. m., an hour that is quite popular with Motor City racing- followers. However, the Wednesday, May 30, Memorial Day program will get under way at 2:00 p. m. President E. E. Dale Shaffer, of the MRA, recently announced that the earlier post time will prevail for all Saturday and holiday racing. Some excellent sport is in store for local turf enthusiasts during the next six-day period. The highlight event of the week, of course, is the renewal of the Col. F. M. Alger Memorial Handicap, one mile and a sixteenth for three-year-olds and older. The Alger is to close for entries on Monday and weights for the traditional Decoration Day attraction are to be posted Tuesday morning at 10:00 a. m. The Tuesday bill at the local oval will feature the Livonia Purse, a six furlongs sprint for three-year-olds, « and a trio of distance events are also listed for decision. The Friday card is to be headlined by the Plymouth Purse, a three-quarter mile offering for four-year-olds and older, while the Sault Ste. Marie Purse and the Upper Peninsular Purse are to serve as top attractions on next Saturdays half -holiday bill, longs for sophomores, is the best offering on the Monday bill and nine from the age division are entered in the sprint. Included in the probable starting band are H. J. Seppenfields" Chow Line, winner last out at Churchill; the O. and R. Pollick entry, Wee Hash and Colonel Pap; also the hardhitting plater, Mad Again, and Ethereal, who raced fairly well in Kentucky this spring. Others named for the Motor City are Triograph, Impeller, Impressment and Lullaby Tim. One* of the better supporting attractions is the fourth race, also at three-quarters mile. James Paddocks Blue Badge is expected to rule choice over his five, rivals in the dash, which also is to bring out Little Baboo, Myronic, Play Eda, Slamaranth and Bickett.
