Start good from stall gate. Won driving; third the same. MILTON BERLE veered out leaving the gate, recovered quickly when straightened and finished in a dead-heat for first with VIENI. The latter, pinched back at the start, worked his way up between horses to finish on even terms with MILTON BERLE. CLOUDBURST was well placed on the rail and showed a good effort. G. I. MAIL had no excuse. STRIDE AWAY faltered slightly nearing the end. MAN OMUSIC had good early speed and weakened. MERRY REWARD was outrun. Scratched-280613 Dickie Bird, 117. WATCH UNION was a sharp factor from the break, went up on the outside in the final furlong to dispose of the leaders and drew clear. TOPS ALL reached the lead in the stretch when UNDER THE RUG shortened stride, but could not withstand the top one. GAY SONG, with the first flight from the start, threatened between horses in the stretch, but lacked a rally. ARILOU was forced to lose ground on the turn. TUMBLER began slowly and raced wide while improving position. UNDER THE RUG displayed speed and tired. PETROGRAD was outrun. MOSSY FACE went between horses on the turn and tired in the final quarter mile. NARVIKO and RUSTLE BROOM quit. BLUE ROXY was knocked back sharply at the start, then closed strongly on the inside. KYALLA failed to respond. BALUSTER faltered.after forcina the early pace. BIG INDIAN was outrun. OCEAN DRIVE vied for the. lead between horses and faltered in the drive. LEADING HOME had good speed until midstretch and weakened slightly. EXTINGUISHER began slowly, then went between horses with a rush in the drive. CACIQUE was blocked in the stretch. BATTLEFIELD gradually moved forward under rating while on the outside, was under restraint until straightened for the drive, engaged JUMBO at the furlong marker and got the nod while being strongly hand ridden. JUMBO established a clear lead after a furlong, was rated along until challenged in midstretch, did not attempt to bear out in the drive and held on gamely until the wire. NULLIFY was not hurried early, went up on the outside when ready and closed best of the others. GENERAL STAFF was eased back when in a trifle close between horses nearing the turn, raced within striking distance until leaving the turn and gave way. COUNTERPOINT went by tired horses after trailing until the stretch. NORTHERN STAR was forwardly placed on the rail, then tired in the final quarter mile. BUSANDA, within striking distance on the inside, ran wide rounding the turn, went between horses in the drive, disposed of NAVY CHIEF and drew away. The latter raced MUCHO MAS into defeat and drew clear leaving the turn, but was not good enough in the drive. QUICK FIRE was well placed on the outside and faltered in the drive. DART BY was forced wide on the turn as was DEEP BLUE. ROCK SPAN, forced out by the winner on -the turn, eased back and came in then suddenly gave way. MUCHO MAS was through after six furlongs.
