BULLY BOY, smartly ridden, raced with TIGER MATT until inside the stretch, assumed command after passing the furlong pole and then held ALPHARA safe. The latter gradually improved position after the opening quarter, finished fast under punishment, but could not reach the top one. BEE LEE TEE, on the outside and racing evenly to the stretch, remained in the middle of the track for the drive, but could not get to the leaders when hard urged. KY. COLONEL held, on well throughout, but failed to rally when set down through the stretch. TIGER MATT was hustled to the front early, engaged BULLY BOY to the last eighth, then weakened. ILLUSTRATE saved ground throughout, but failed to stay during the stretch run. FANCY FLYER began slowly and never reached serious contention. SKYRAIDING showed nothing. HOLLY MAC was hustled to the front early, made the pace to the stretch under steady rating, then responded to punishment and lasted to withstand SKY TRAIN. The latter, never far back and on the inside, finished willingly under strong handling, but could not overtake the winner. WHATANURSE had early speed, drifted out at the stretch turn and could not threaten the leaders when straightened for the drive. GLORYS CHANCE could not better his position when hard ridden through the stretch. BILLY BUMPS raced wide. OATKA was never a serious threat. KY. DOAK went to the front early, gave way momentarily to CRACK REWARD after going wide at the stretch turn, then came again under hard urging and was up in the concluding strides. CRACK REWARD steadily improved position while saving ground, reached the lead during the drive and held on determinedly, but could not withstand the top one. MONTCALM, reserved to the stretch, closed fast, but could not reach the leaders. URGENT was unable to better his position when set down through the stretch. GOOD HEAVENS tired during the stretch run. MIO LIPS was never dangerous and had no mishap. DUSTLIGHT began fast, but could not keep up after displaying early speed. JOES LADDIE was outrun. AMANECER was far back throughout MAGNETIC STAR tired badly after showing early foot and did not appear ready for his engagement. Good Heavens claimed by W. Zakoor. Attendance, 18,283; Total Mutuel Pool, 20,687.
