Report Sox and Seattle Near Agreement for Jim Riviera SEATTLE, Wash., May 26 UP.— The Seattle Rainers and Chicago White Sox were reported today "to be near agreement on a deal that would send Rainer outfielder Jim Rivera to Chicago in exchange for 0,000, four players and a working agreement between the two clubs. Manager Frank Lane of the White Sox has been here all week discussing the proposition with owner Emil Sick, president Rochy Torrance and general manager Earl Sheely of the Pacific Coast League Club. Sheely said the White Sox would give Seattle players and help after a formal agreement between Chicago and the Sacramento solons ends this year? Rivera would stay with Seattle for the rest of this season, however. Chicago already has options on Seattle pitcher Vernon Kindsfather and first baseman Gordon Goldsberry. Rivera, a New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent, is batting .360. He plays center-field.
