CHITLIN SWITCH, well placed between horses, came to the outside for the drive, responded willingly when urged and drew out to win handily. STAR SPOT lost ground racing outside the first flight, ducked to the inside when punished for the final drive and could not get up. DIAMOND HEAD easily assumed command on the final turn, drew clear between calls, but faltered when punished. BOB-ED was rushed through an opening on the inside to loom boldly on the turns, then faltered in the drive. BLUE FEN was taken back at the start. KEL0RA gave a dull effort. MR. MASTER SHOWMAN gradually moved to the pace while racing between horses, drifted to the inside under punishment in the drive, but proved best. ONCE ONLY, outrun and running close behind horses, was guided to the outside and between horses for the drive and finished fast. SAND RUN, taken back from a swift beginning, raced on the extreme outside throughout and could not be effectively handled while lugging in through the drive. SHIRLSON wrested a clear lead under urging at the half mile, but faltered. HELL BENT was well placed and appeared dangerous, but faltered. BETTER BUY had a rough trip. HIP HIP quit. ALEXIS, alertly hustled away at the start, raced within easy striking distance and quickly disposed of the leaders entering the stretch, then retained his advantage under intermittent pressure. CARMAGNOLE could not stay with TITANS MATCH while racing on the inside, but responded determinedly for the finish and gained her placing. LOCAL BAND lacked early speed, circled extremely wide for the drive and finished fast. TITANS MATCH had to be hard urged to open a clear lead, then faltered and drifted wide in the stretch run. NOBLE SPARTAN established a clear lead and held sway easily into the last stages, then was hard ridden to hold OUR COOKIE. The latter was brought to the outside and steadily made up ground, finished determinedly and was getting to the winner. ACHILLES was hard ridden while in closest attendance to the pace, drifted wide in the stretch run, but held on well. KINGS QUEST swung wide on the outside of horses entering the stretch and made up some ground late. METROPOLIS raced greenly and was outrun. INCAS quit. STOWE CREEK was very green and hard to handle. NAVY ACE was rated closest to the pace, easily assumed command midway the turns and then drew into a long lead under steady pressure. SPINDLE set the pace for a little more than five furlongs, was tiring badly in the last stages, but remained clearly best of the others. MILK WAR raced evenly. PAM LIGHT was not a menace. LET ME THRU was closer up than usual and saving ground, found a large opening in the early stretch, quickly moved to the front and drew out under pressure. DIXIE SWEEP was intermittently urged to be a forward factor and finished well under -strong punishment. HADHAMAUT slipped through on the inside to reach a short lead on the final turn, then bore out -in the drive and weakened. CAPTAIN BOUDOUR lacked speed and was forced to swing extremely wide while rallying for the drive. RESOJET and GOOD LOOK viewed for the early pace, were carried wide and quit. LORD CALVERT tired. SANTAS VIXEN pulled up lame. Attendance, 8,860; Total Mutuel Pool, 96,782
