Many Delaware Outfits Bound for Narragansett Will Stimulate Interest in Meet Which Gets Under Way Monday PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 28.— The impact of new racing stables, some of which have not previously appeared on the New England circuit, is bound to stimulate interest in the sport as will be evidenced in the forthcoming meeting at Narragansett opening Monday for a 24-day session. A strong brigade of Delaware outfits is en route to Rhode Island and due today and tomorrow. Prominent among these is the well known Kentucky breeder and trainer Dan Midkiff with a string of 10 solid campaigners, operating under the nom du course of Circle M Farm; Jimmy Penrod, ! who trains for R. E. Carter, with a power - I ful group of nine; Jimmy Rowan, who conditions the horses of Sylvester Labrot, prominent Maryland breeder, is on his way f with eight, and Jim OConnor is due with . seven. Another powerful stable from Delaware due today is that of G. C. Smith, who is bringing in 15 horses, chiefly three- and four-year-olds, eight of which are owned by R. Roy McClarin, three by E. S. Sutleff and a quartet of his own. Vans are rolling down from Suffolk Downs where the meeting closes this week. Among the arrivals are Preece with five of his charges. J. M. Grieve with five headed by the good stakes performer Brick, now returning to peak form; H. Wolfe with eight; R. Gottsman, four; Otto Bagley, five; Odie Clelland with two, making 11 all together; J. J. Shugrue, seven; W. D. Hannan, four; Charley Hatfield, six; Joe Purpura, six; Jim Beattie, Rhode Island textile tycoon, who breeds his own stock, with 14; F. M. Poncelet, eight, and the week-end will see a steady stream of vans from East Boston to Pawtucket with many more. A young trainer whose work will be watched with interest at Gansett during this meeting, is Charley Reynolds, no stranger to New England racing fans, but who only two weeks ago signed up to condition horses belonging to M. F. Drinkhouse, I prominent New York restaurant owner. He has a division of six horses ready to run here, three of which are two-year-olds, and upwards of 20 more in New York, many of which will be sent here at a later date.
