Seven Speedsters Meet In Monmouth Offering Blue Helmet and Crew-Cut Vie For Favorites Role Today MONMOUTH PARK, Oceanport, N. J., June 28. — Betty Furness, well-known television personality and movie actress, will be a guest at this seaside track tomorrow and the featured fifth race has been named in her honor. Seven sprinters have been I named for the six-furlong event, including i a stable coupling. Brookmeade Stables three-year-old Blue Helmet, who was unsuccessful in the Select Handicap here last Saturday, will vie for favoritism with A.-T. Hurffs five-year-old Crew-Cut, who has been racing for a nominal claiming price, but is a gem of consistency. The others in the small field are Bar and Boodle, who will race as the H. W. Pincher entry, Woodland Farms Flower Hat, Saggy Farms Stag and Mrs. W. Vaughans Lucky Ned. Blue Helmet, a homebred son of Phara-mond H. and Bonnet Ann, was never a factor and finished next to last in the Select. Previously he turned in some good efforts in Maryland, including a victory under allowance conditions. One of his better races would undoubtedly make him the one to beat. Crew-Cut was handicapped by a poor start in his last race, but then came on to finish fifth. His three previous efforts brought him into the place hole on each occasion, being beaten by Senoril, Hankie and Jerrys Best. Although still without brackets this year he won four times last season. Stag flashed good speed here last week and finished second to the fleet filly, Saucy Colleen. It was an excellent try and a similar effort would make him very dangerous, although his other attempts this year have not been impressive. Bar was very disappointing in his last race, but it is suspected that he might prefer the soft footing of an "off" track. With the present unsettled weather conditions, he may find just what he is looking for. His stablemate, Boodle, tired very badly in his first outing of the year here a couple of days ago, and it is likely that he will be in need of further conditioning before coming up with his best.
