Chenerys homebred four-year-old will be trying to add to his j unblemished record on the Metropolitan circuit today when he engages six j rivals in the Hermes Purse at the Aqueduct course. t _ _ T S j j t T Former Seeks His Fourth Win in Row Aqueducts HermesHandicap Also to Engage Tea-Maker And Hyphasis at Six Furlongs AQUEDUCT, L. I., N. Y., June 28.— Two erstwhile stars of the handicap division are slated to start comeback attempts at Aqueduct tomorrow in the featured Hermes Handicap at six furlongs. They are Isidor Biebers Palestinian and Addison Stables Arise, who oppose five others in the ,000 event. Neither of the former stars is likely to be favored, that honor going to Christopher T. Chenerys Bryan G. and F. Ambrose Clarks Tea-Maker in almost equal degree. Palestinian has been on the sidelines since the Jamaica meeting, apparently again troubled by his "floating bow." The hard-hitting five-year-old was a close second to County Delight in the Gallant Fox Handicap for his best race this year and has been training cleverly, but is not to be taken too seriously in this sprint. He has 120 pounds to carry. Arise, who will be making his seasonal debut, is quite as dangerous in sprints as over a route of ground, races well when fresh and looks and trains as well as he ever did. Last year, Arise won the Fall Highweight Handicap at six furlongs, the American Legion at seven and the Syson-by Mile, among other races. Eddie Arcaro will add to his following. The Canadian-owned horse gets in with 121. Vastly Improved Sprinter Bryan G. won his last three starts at I Belmont Park in style, suggesting that he is the most improved sprinter in training. Last out, he beat Miche, Vigorous and others in 1:10%. Before that he won at seven furlongs in 1:22% with a pound j more than he has to carry tomorrow, while j his only other start in the East this year was another six-furlong score in 1:10%. • Ted Atkinson will again be in the saddle , with enough lead to make 118 pounds. Tea -Maker, who is topweight with 124 1 pounds, finished reasonably close to Sheilas ] Reward in his last start at Monmouth ! and that colt came up here to run away ] with the Queens County Handicap last Saturday. Warren Mehrtens will ride the I popular veteran, who rarely turns in a bad 3 race and has become one of the most popular sprinters of the decade. The others in the Hermes are Mrs. Jan . Burkes Magic Words, 115; Belair Studs : Hyphasis, 113, and Mrs. J. T. Maloneys : Big If, 104. At the weights, all three are ; to be feared. Magic Words has not been ! out since his dull race in the Toboggan : Handicap on opening day at Belmont Park, but is in shrewd hands and rarely turns in a bad race. Hyphasis, who will be racing : over his home track, finished far behind : Bryan G. in his last, but occasionally comes up with a big race. Big If was a fast-finishing third behind First Glance and Mighty Quest on opening day at this meeting. The Hermes is preceded by a test for three-year-old fillies at a mile and a sixteenth, styled the Mignonette, which has attracted such as Harry LaMontagnes Valadium, Starmount Stables Signal, Henry Lewis nis Gorgeous Reded, Maine Chance Farms Belle Amie and Odgen Phipps Turmeric. When you go past How and Kiss Me Kate in the sophomore filly division, the picture becomes thoroughly confused and Valadium and Signal have at least as good a claim to third honors in the division as any of the eastern fillies. Valadium won her last start at Belmont, while Signal finished second to Kiss Me Kate in the Delaware Oaks.
