C, June 28 UP.— The New York Yankees moved to within n half a game of the American League-leading Chicago White Sox today by outman-t" ning the Washington Senators with a a three-run uprising in the eighth inning g against Sid Hudson for a 3-0 victory. It was the second shutout in a row over r the Senators and gave the Yanks a 2-1 ■• edge in the three-game series. Hudson, taking his fifth defeat against a lone victory, had a one-hitter for the first six X innings in which he faced by 18 batters. 5* Johnny Mize started the assault in the e eighth with a double to right and beat the e throw to third after Bobby Browns bunt. t. Hudson then issued his second walk to O pinch-hitter Johnny HVjpp to load the e bases and after Micky Mantle struck out, t, pinch-hitter Cliff Mapes cleaned the bases S with another double to right. Rookie right-hander Tom Morgan, mak-. Z ing his first start since he was recalled a from Kansas City, earned credit for the e victory although Joe Ostrowski pitched the e last two innings and allowed the Senators J one of their nine hits. It was Morgans third victory, two at the expense of Wash-1 ington, against a lone defeat.
