J., | June 28. — A meeting of the executive com-0 mittee of the National Association of State Racing Commissioners will be held here to-0 morrow to determine whether a successor to Leo Edwards as president shall be ap-0 pointed or whether Edwards shall retain the office until the next annual meeting of J the organization. The committee consists of the three vice-presidents, Frank Small. Jr., of Maryland; D. Thomas Testa, of Rhode Island, and Dwight Murphy, of California; treasurer Hugh L. Mehorter, of New Jersey, and secretary and assistant treasurer, Mrs. A. E. Smith. It is understood that any members of the advisory committee, composed of former presidents of the NASRC, who may be at the track, will be invited to sit in on the deliberations. Edwards, who was chairman, and his fellow members of the Florida State Racing Commission, recently were supplanted by an entire new board appointed by Gov. Fuller Warren. Edwards thereupon tendered his resignation as president of the national group. The question developed whether, under the constitution and by-laws, a non-0 active commissioner can retain the presi-9 dency for the remainder of his original term or a new president pro tern must be chosen by the executive committee.
